On March 1-5, 2018, the researchers of USCU MN Dr. Semen Vasilev, Daria Vasileva, and Dr. Pavel Zelenovsky have studied peptide nanotubes on the synchrotron ESRF (Grenoble, France). X-ray diffraction measurements were carried out on nanotubes filled with water molecules in varying degrees. The obtained results made it possible to clarify the available ideas about the kinetics of water in nanotubes and to propose a new model of water ordering in nanochannels.
This is not the first trip to the synchrotron for Semen and Pavel. The last time they studied the change in the crystal structure at low temperatures and at high pressures.
