Participation in the IMF-2017 conference

Prof. Vladimir Shur, Professor, director of the Ural Center for Shared Use “Modern Nanotechnologies” UrFU visited San Antonio (Texas, USA) on September 4-8 and took part in the IMF-2017 conference with an invited talk "Nanoscale domain structures in uniaxial ferroelectric single crystals". This is the 14th conference of a series of events held every four years in different countries around the world. Prof. Shur attended the last seven of them.

Seminar of Boris Sturman, Novosibirsk

The seminar of Prof. Boris Sturman from the Institute of Automation and Electrometry of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Novosibirsk on the topic "Giant conductivity of charged domain walls in lithium niobate. New experimental results and their interpretation" will be held on May 10 at 12:00 in room 209.

All-Russian Forum of Young Scientists

The All-Russian Forum of Young Scientists "Towards the World Festival of Youth and Students" was held on April 27-28, 2017 in UrFU. As a result of this Forum, 128 researchers under the age of 35 – undergraduates, graduate students, and university teachers – have been chosen for participating in the XIX Festival of Youth and Students (FYS) in Sochi in October 2017. Our team members Dr. Dmitry Chezganov and Evgeny Vlasov were included in these 128 selected researchers.

The VIII annual conference of the Nanotechnological Society of Russia was held on March 30-31. Within the cycle of the scientific-educational lectures, the director of the UCSU MN Prof. Vladimir Shur delivered a lecture on toxicity studies of metal oxide nanoparticles.

Vladimir Shur, professor, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences at UrFU, Ural Center for Shared Use “Modern Nanotechnologies” director together with professor Sumio Iijima of Meijo University, Japan, the one who was the first to inspect carbon nanotubes, inaugurated Сenter of nano-science and nano-technology of Jamia Millia Islamia University in New Delhi, India on 4, November, 2016.

Italian delegation in USCU MN

On October 14, 2016 during their visit to URFU a group of Italian researchers and industrialists visited Ural Center for Shared Use “Modern Nanotechnologies”, and were impressed with an excursion where UCSU MN director profeccor Vladimir Shur showed them arond the Center.

Ural Center for Shared Use “Modern Nanotechnologies” director, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor Vladimir Y. Shur was elected as Senior Member of the IEEE.

Greetings to 3 new PhD

On 17, June 2016 in Ural Federal University two Ph.D. defenses in specialty 01.04.07 – Condensed-matter physics: «Piezoelectric, pyroelectric and elastic properties of diphenylalanine microtubes»  by Vasilev Semen and «Creation and investigation of optical waveguides with regular domain structure in lithium niobate» by Neradovsky took place in one day. On 24, June 2016 Kosobokov Mikhail also defended his Ph. D. «Formation of micro- and nano-domain structures in lithium niobate and lithium tantalate after transient laser heating» in the same specialty.

The development of collaboration with China

Ural Center for Shared Use "Modern Nanotechnology" senior researcher, PhD Andrey Ahmathanov with collegues from the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences took part in the Russian-Chinese forum of interaction between young scientists and entrepreneurs in the field of high technologies (Harbin, Heilongjiang province, China, 15-19 June 2016).
