Researchers of the UCSU MN Dr. Semen Vasilev and Darya Vasileva went to the University of Limerick (Ireland) for an internship with the support of the International Mobility Program Erasmus +, funded by the EU, from January 18 to February 8, 2018.
Semen studied the piezoelectric and nonlinear optical properties of peptide microtubules grown using various solvents, and also carried out spectroscopic studies (IR spectroscopy) to detect free and bound water inside the tubes.
Daria investigated the formation of films of the ferroelectric polymorphic phase of glycine by centrifugation and the technique of creating a protective polymeric layer on the surface of glycine crystals in order to protect them from moisture.
